A Comprehensive Guide to the Latest Enhancements
IP Pilot’s new and modern interface introduces several improvements designed to make the platform more intuitive, efficient, and user-friendly. In this article, we’ll highlight the enhancements that you can look forward to.
A Fresh Look at the Main Menu
Color-Coded Navigation
One of the most noticeable changes in the new interface is the color-coded navigation system, which significantly improves the user’s ability to distinguish between different datasets.
The IP Pilot platform now utilizes distinct colors for each of its primary datasets – blue for Patents, yellow for Trademarks, and green for IP Pilot Ultimate. This visual differentiation ensures that users can quickly and easily identify the dataset they are working with, reducing the likelihood of errors and improving overall workflow efficiency.
Enhanced Analyze Section
The latest update enhances the Analyze section by incorporating “Filings,” which was previously found in the Insights section, alongside “Law Firms” and “Applicants.”
Whether you’re interested in exploring trends in patent filings for law firms and clients or analyzing specific applications, the expanded Analyze section now provides a more robust set of tools for thorough research.
Don’t worry! Standard Search is still there
The Standard Search feature is still available, now with a more streamlined name: Search.
It has been enhanced with new, exciting tips and tricks, enabling you to effortlessly pre-configure your search setup for quicker access to the most relevant data. For more details, check out the video below.
Insights Section: A glimpse into the future
The new interface reintroduces the Insights section, currently featuring the “White Spots” sub-section. This tool is designed to help users identify gaps and opportunities by comparing the technical portfolios of two law firms or a law firm with an applicant.
While the current offerings are just the beginning, IP Pilot has ambitious plans for the Insights section. In the coming months, the platform will expand to include a suite of new features as part of a Professional version. These enhancements will consist of “Network Overlap,” “Similar Entities” and tools for integrating IP Pilot’s insights with Excel data, among others. The Professional version is anticipated to launch later this year or early next year, offering advanced analytical capabilities for users who require deeper insights.
Comprehensive Name Search
The updated name search feature offers enhanced flexibility and precision by including both verified law firms identified by advanced IP Pilot algorithms and even the smallest unverified entities (solo practitioners, young and boutique firms). This allows users to access a broader dataset right from the start, providing a more complete and comprehensive view of the data available on the law firms’ profiles.
In addition, we are working on further improvements, including the ability to search by the name of an attorney or include all entities belonging to a corporate tree with a single click. These extensions will be available as part of the Professional version.
Deep Dive into Analyze and Search Sections
Search: Simpler, yet more powerful
Search retains its core functionality but now includes a variety of new tips and tricks that streamline the search setup process, making it easier for users to tailor their searches to specific criteria.
The new “Pre-fill Configuration” section, for instance, provides ready-to-use search templates based on common use cases, which can be further customized to meet specific jurisdictional needs or requirements. This feature simplifies the search process and saves time by eliminating the need to manually input search criteria. Additionally, users can now quickly access previous searches and bookmarked or saved searches within the same page by simply switching to the relevant tab.
Streamlined tools to Analyze and Export the Profiles
The logic behind the tools available to analyze the profiles of law firms or applicants has been subtly reworked to consolidate all relevant functions in one place.
Just after the KPI bar users can find the profile export option (formerly known as PDF export), a dropdown menu for adjusting the year type, a time frame selector, and a list of applied filters. This reorganization makes it easier to refine profiles and analyze data in a cohesive, streamlined manner.
The updated interface also offers helpful features next to each chart title, including a question mark for additional information, a bookmark icon to save charts for later review, and a download button for exporting data in various formats.
Under the Filings tab, users can explore the “Show Data” dropdown menu, which allows adding extra columns to the displayed table. This customization can include information such as PCT deadline dates, names of Original or International Representatives, or details about Technical Fields or Nice Classes. With these options, users have greater control over how they view and analyze filing data, making it easier to extract the information most relevant to their research needs.
What you get: A More Intuitive and Powerful IP Pilot
The updated IP Pilot interface represents a significant leap forward in terms of usability and functionality. From the intuitive color-coded navigation to the expanded Analyze section and the enhanced search capabilities, every aspect of the platform has been designed with the user in mind.
Whether you’re a seasoned IP Pilot user or new to the platform, these changes make it easier to navigate, search, and analyze intellectual property data.
