Top EUIPO Trademark Attorney Firms 2021-2025

Data in this report is sourced from IP Pilot and is accurate as of March 2026 and is based on the number of trademark filings first published between 2021 and 2025. Because trademark data may be subject to reporting delays in public databases, figures may fluctuate over time.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) remains one of the most active trademark jurisdictions in the world, offering applicants unitary protection across all EU member states through a single registration.

Between 2021 and 2025, the EUIPO recorded 593,448 trademark filings, with the top 25 representative firms alone handling 134,067 of them (22%). This level of concentration underlines the significant and continuing role that top representatives play in EU trademark protection, even as filing activity remained broadly stable despite economic fluctuations, regulatory adjustments, and evolving brand-protection strategies.

Rank: Top 50 EUIPO Trademark Attorney Firms 2021-2025

Spain leads the EUIPO trademark landscape with 113,689 filings (19% share), narrowly ahead of Germany’s 107,113 filings (18%) — a reversal from the 2019–2023 period, when Germany held the top spot. A cluster of high-volume Spanish firms sits behind this performance, including Asternery, Intermark Patentes & Marcas, Herrero & Asociados, and Pons Patentes y Marcas.

France’s leading representatives include IBE Avocat, which ranks among the top three filers, the merged Santarelli Group – IPSIDE – Brevalex – Santarelli, and France Zhou.

Central and Eastern Europe are well represented too: Lithuania’s Metida Law Firm ranks in the top three overall, while Polish firms KBZ Żuradzki Barczyk & Partners and Kancelaria Radcy Prawnego Krzysztof Breguła both feature in the top 50.

Italy holds a strong top-25 presence through A.Bre.Mar., Jacobacci & Partners, and Bugnion, with five further Italian firms in the top 50 collectively filing 28,717 trademarks over the period.

What’s the bigger story?

Market concentration among the leading firms remains significant, with several consolidating their positions through sustained high-volume filing strategies across the five-year period — even as strong representation from Spain, France, and Central/Eastern Europe points to a still-competitive, multi-jurisdictional field.

Top 50 EUIPO Trademark Attorney Firms 2021-2025: Filing Volume

EUIPO Trademark Attorney Firms: Country Breakdown

Filing activity across the EUIPO’s 2021–2025 period reflects a broad, multi-jurisdictional base rather than a single dominant market.

  • Spain and Germany together account for roughly 37% of all EUIPO trademark filings, with Spain having overtaken Germany’s long-standing lead during this period.
  • France, Central/Eastern Europe (led by Lithuania and Poland), and Italy round out the next tier of strong national representation among top-ranked filing firms.

The broader trend points to a EUIPO market where leadership is contested at the country level, and where firms with strong regional or cross-border referral networks are well positioned to capture volume.

EUIPO Applicants: Country of Origin

China dominates as the leading country of origin for EUIPO trademark applicants, accounting for roughly 25% of all filings between 2021 and 2025 — reflecting the scale of outbound brand-protection activity from Chinese companies seeking registration across the EU market.

This level of activity points to a sustained, structural filing relationship rather than a short-term spike, and is a trend worth monitoring for firms with China-facing referral practices.

The United States ranks second with 60,131 filings (11% share), underscoring the EU’s continued importance as a destination for American brand owners seeking unitary protection across all member states.

Together, China and the United States represent more than a third of all applicant-origin filings, highlighting the EUIPO’s role as a strategic filing destination well beyond the EU’s own borders.

EUIPO Applicants: Top 10 Applicants

L’Oréal leads all EUIPO trademark applicants with 1,319 filings between 2021 and 2025 — nearly double the total of the second-ranked Novartis AG of Switzerland. The gap illustrates the scale of centralized, high-volume trademark filing strategies among the largest global brand owners.

Strategic Insights: The EU Trademark Market

For international law firms and IP counsel evaluating referral partnerships or expansion into the EU trademark space, a few themes stand out:

  • Concentration at the top, competition throughout. The top 25 firms handle 22% of all filings, yet the presence of numerous mid-tier firms across Spain, France, Italy, and Central/Eastern Europe points to a still-fragmented, competitive landscape.
  • Geographic leadership can shift. Spain’s overtaking of Germany between the 2019–2023 and 2021–2025 periods shows that country-level rankings are not static, and referral strategies should be revisited periodically.
  • China’s dominance as an applicant origin signals a durable filing relationship worth monitoring for firms with China-facing practices.

Final Thoughts

The EUIPO trademark landscape reflects a market shaped by both concentration and geographic diversity. Firms with strong Spanish, French, or Italian representation continue to anchor the top ranks, while the EU’s enduring appeal to applicants from China and the United States reinforces its role as a cornerstone jurisdiction for global brand protection.
