Brazil stands out as one of the most significant markets for intellectual property in Latin America. According to IP Pilot data from 2019 through 2023, Brazil saw 112,899 patents published represented by 344 firms.

It’s no secret that China is a powerhouse when it comes to patent filing activities. According to IP Pilot data from 2019 through 2023, China alone saw 13,754,802 patent applications represented by 1000 firms. That’s an average of 137,548 patent applications per firm.

Between 2019 and 2023, top patent prosecution firms in Canada filed 199,080 patent applications. These filings were represented by 1045 firms.

Between 2019 and 2023, top patent prosecution firms in Italy filed 85,451 patent applications. These filings were represented by 168 firms.

Based on IP Pilot, a total of 46,264 patent filings were managed by 46 South African firms. DAMS & ADAMS, SPOOR & FISHER, and SIBANDA & ZANTWIJK stand out, having processed an impressive 62% of all filings from 2018 to 2022 in the country.

A total of 89 patent prosecution firms in Mexico handled 72,632 patent filings. The Top 3 representatives - UHTHOFF, OLIVARES, and BC&B - have handled a substantial 43% of the total number of filings from 2018 to 2022.

Japan’s top 1000 patent prosecution firms represented 1,402,919 applications between 2019 and 2023. The 25 largest ones alone prosecuted 512,242 applications or approximately 37% of patent filings during the time period.

The Top 25 leading entities represented a staggering 72% of the total 148,781 patent applications between 2018 and 2023. PLASSERAUD, LAVOIX, CABINET BEAU DE LOMÉNIE, REGIMBEAU, and BREVALEX emerged as the frontrunners.

Between 2018 - 2022, over 180 patent prosecution firms in Australia represented about 194,383 filings. The top 5 firms, including SPRUSON & FERGUSON, DAVIES COLLISON CAVE, and GRIFFITH HACK among others handled more than 50% of the total.
